Rajshahi Correspondent : Abul Kalam Azad Sweet, vice-president of Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP and former Jubo Dal leader, has been appointed as the chairman of Rajshahi Development Authority (RDA). He was appointed on a contractual basis for one year in a notification issued by the Contract and Foreign Employment Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration on Thursday.
The notification signed by Deputy Secretary Golam Rabbani said that Abul Kalam Azad has been appointed as the Chairman (Grade-2) of Rajshahi Development Authority for a period of one year from the date of joining, on the condition that he renounces any other profession, business or employment relationship with any government, semi-government or private institution or organization.
Abul Kalam Azad Sweet is the former president of Rajshahi Metropolitan Jubo Dal. He is currently serving as the vice-president of Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP.
His appointment has been met with satisfaction among party leaders and activists and well-wishers. Those concerned are hopeful that under his leadership, various development activities of the Rajshahi Development Authority will be more dynamic.
