A computer training program has been inaugurated in Dinajpur by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) with the aim of improving the IT skills of civilian youth in the border area, creating self-employment opportunities and strengthening social awareness.
The formal inauguration of this training program was held at the Birol Upazila Model Mosque Complex under the management of Dinajpur 42 BGB Battalion on Monday (July 27, 2026) afternoon.
Dinajpur 42 BGB Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Moin Hasan and Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam were present at the program and inaugurated the training program.
At this time, BGB Dinajpur Sector Additional Director (Operations) Major Tanim Hasan Khan, Sector Medical Officer Captain S. M. Mahdi Zaman, Birol Upazila Executive Officer Md. Rezaul Islam, Acting Quartermaster Assistant Director Md. Mahfuzur Rahman of 42 BGB Battalion, other BGB officers, local dignitaries and trainees were present.
Speaking at the event, Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Moin Hasan said that the main goal of this training is to develop the youth of the border region with technology-based skills. Skilled and aware youth will be able to stay away from drugs, smuggling and other criminal activities and make an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the country as patriotic and responsible citizens.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam said that the skills acquired in information technology will increase the confidence, efficiency and self-reliance of the youth of the border area. He said that the trainees will be able to use the acquired knowledge in real life and develop themselves as skilled human resources and play an effective role in the development of the country and building a smart Bangladesh.
BGB authorities said that in addition to ensuring the country’s border security, the force is also regularly implementing various initiatives for the socio-economic development and public welfare of the border towns. Such training programs will play a helpful role in transforming the youth into skilled human resources, creating employment, reducing poverty and establishing social stability.
It is worth noting that 10 civilian youth from the border area are participating in this training, which is ongoing from July 27 to August 20, 2026.
