ACC conducts drive against corruption and irregularities in Rangamati Hill District Council project implementation

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has conducted a drive against allegations of corruption and irregularities in the implementation of various projects under the Rangamati Hill District Council. A team led by ACC Rangamati Integrated District Office Director Zahid Kalam conducted the drive at the District Council from 10 am to 11:30 am on Wednesday.
During the drive, files related to the Sajek car parking project, files related to the District Council’s toll, files related to the distribution of cashew nuts and tree seedlings in various upazilas, and several tender documents were summoned. At this time, District Council member Pratul Dewan, Administrative Officer Mantosh Chakma, Engineer Ujjwal Chakma were present and showed the files to the ACC officials. ACC Director Zahid Kalam told reporters that specific allegations of irregularities have been found in various projects of the District Council. We are not satisfied with the statements of the officials. As the chairman and other senior officials were in Dhaka, their statements could not be taken. However, the ACC’s drive in this regard will continue. Later, the ACC officials inspected the projects under the jurisdiction of the District Council. Assistant Director of the ACC Rangamati District Office Ahmed Farhad Hossain, Deputy Assistant Director Sawar Hossain, Borhan Uddin and journalists were present during the drive. As the District Council Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Engineer were in Dhaka, the ACC could not take their statements during the drive.
