Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has ordered the implementation of waste-to-power generation projects in Aminbazar and Matuail within the stipulated time frame to convert waste into resources in Dhaka’s two city corporations. He also emphasized on ensuring the best use of environment-friendly technology in the two projects.
A meeting in this regard was held at 9:30 am on Sunday (July 12) in the meeting room of the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat. The Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Shahadat Swadhin gave this information.The meeting was informed that China’s CMEC Group will invest in the construction of a waste-to-energy power plant in Aminbazar. The project will generate 42.5 megawatts of electricity using about 3,000 tons of waste from Dhaka city every day. It is expected that electricity supply to the national grid will start by August 2028. This project will enable electricity generation for the next 25 years.
