Md. Anisur Rahman Shelly : Â A BNP leader from Mirzapur upazila of Tangail has been permanently expelled from the party after a video of women dancing in three-piece outfits to celebrate the ongoing World Cup football match went viral on social media. The expelled leader is Khandaker Aminul Islam Mintu. He was the BNP president of Ward No. 1 of Gorai Union in Mirzapur upazila.
This decision to expel was confirmed in a party pad signed by Upazila BNP office secretary Harun Or Rashid on Sunday morning. According to local sources, Khandaker Aminul Islam Mintu went to celebrate Brazil’s victory over Japan by 2-1 in the ongoing World Cup football match. At that time, he expressed his joy by dancing and singing in a strange manner while wearing a three-piece women’s dress. Later, when the video of that dance was recorded and spread on social media, it created widespread discussion, criticism and laughter in local and political circles.
According to party sources, after this incident, he has been permanently expelled from the post of ward BNP president as well as from the primary membership of the party on specific allegations of violating party discipline, tarnishing the party’s image, and engaging in various immoral activities.
In this regard, expelled leader Khandaker Aminul Islam said, “I rejoiced at the victory of the Brazilian team in the World Cup football game. If rejoicing is against party discipline, then I have nothing to say against the party’s decision.”
Mirzapur Upazila BNP office secretary Harun Or Rashid confirmed the matter and said that the decision was taken to maintain the party’s discipline and image and the expulsion order has been implemented since this morning.
