This year’s Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations have started simultaneously across the country from today.
The examination started at 10 am with Bangla First Paper (Compulsory), which will continue till 1 pm.
A total of 12 lakh 70 thousand 583 candidates from a total of 9 thousand 439 educational institutions participated in this examination at 2 thousand 697 centers. This time all the examination centers have been brought under CCTV surveillance.
The Ministry of Education said that the examination is being conducted in the nine general education boards of the country with a common question paper. Earlier, the HSC examination under the general education boards was held with a separate question paper for each board.
According to the information of the Ministry of Education, this time too, the number of female candidates is more than that of male candidates. Out of the total number of male candidates, 6 lakh 21 thousand 969 are male candidates and 6 lakh 48 thousand 614 are female candidates. That is, 26 thousand 645 more female candidates are participating in the HSC and equivalent examinations than male candidates.
According to the information, CCTV cameras have been installed in all centers of the country to conduct the examination in a fair, beautiful and cheating-free environment. A central ‘CCTV Camera Monitoring Cell’ has been opened in the Ministry of Education.
This cell is directly monitoring the examination of any center in any part of the country.
In addition, to control the law and order situation, ‘body worn cameras’ have been installed with the police officers responsible at the center, which the government hopes will play a major role in preventing unwanted incidents.
According to statistics, a total of 10 lakh 69 thousand 714 candidates are appearing in the 9 general boards, 92 thousand 905 in the Madrasa Board and 1 lakh 7 thousand 964 in the Technical Board.
Among the boards, the highest number of 3 lakh 393 candidates are appearing in the Dhaka Board and the lowest 58 thousand 694 candidates are appearing in the Barisal Board.
This examination will be conducted in 21 days in a total of 77 subjects. On the day there is no exam, regular class activities will continue in the concerned educational institutions. The written exam will continue till August 8 and the practical exam will have to be completed by August 15.
The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee said that to avoid unexpected traffic jams at the exam centers, the candidates have been ensured to enter the center by 8:30 am.
All the controversial venues for cheating have already been canceled. However, some venues have been kept in special consideration for the convenience of students from haor, hilly and remote char areas, and adequate security arrangements have been made there.
The ministry further informed that strict steps have been taken to protect the question paper. If anyone spreads fake questions through social media or tries to leak them, exemplary punishment will be given as per the amended ‘Public Examinations Act 1980’.
