The District Detective Branch (DB) police have arrested four members of an inter-district crime gang in preparation for a robbery in Dinajpur. A pickup, a huge amount of equipment, fake identity cards and other evidence were recovered on the charge of using them in the robbery.
Police said that under the direction of Dinajpur District Superintendent of Police Md. Zedan Al Musa, PPM and under the overall supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md. Rafiqul Alam and Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Suman Ranjan Sarkar, a smart team led by District Detective Branch (DB) Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Alamgir, PPM conducted a raid on room 306 on the third floor of Hotel Raj in Bahadur Bazar Station Road area under Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station on Tuesday (June 30) at 7:35 pm on the basis of secret information.
During the raid, Md. Sohanul Islam (40) of Jangal Mukandpur area of ​​Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj district, Md. Khalil (30) of Rajapura (West Elisha) area of ​​Bhola Sadar upazila, Barun Bala (43) of Musuria area of ​​Kotalipara upazila of Gopalganj district and Md. Dulal Mia (40) of Muradpur area of ​​Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur district were arrested.
According to the police, during the operation, a Nissan double cabin carry boy pickup, five mobile phones, a cordless drill machine, two cordless angle grinders, 11 cutting discs, four sheet metal cutters, various types of wrenches, screwdrivers, testers, hex keys, drill bits, a total of 67 different types of keys in 10 key sets, seven stainless steel locks, two lithium-ion battery chargers, six jumper cables, a multiplug, a crowbar, an iron pipe, an L-shaped iron rod, three fake company ID cards, a backpack, two reflective safety jackets and a fake laminated display used in the pickup with the words ‘Emergency Power’ and ‘Engaged in Emergency Tower Work’ were recovered.
According to initial interrogation, the police said that the arrested persons are involved in looting batteries and other valuable equipment stored in mobile tower power plants (power houses) in different parts of the country. At the time of committing the crime, they used fake identity cards to pose as engineers, technicians and drivers of their various organizations.
Police also said that several other members of this gang are absconding. The operation to arrest them is ongoing. The process of taking necessary legal action against those arrested is underway.
