Dhaka: Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has conducted a special drive to ensure a safe environment for students in Dhanmondi in the capital. In addition to dispersing miscreants stationed around the school, illegal shops and temporary establishments set up by occupying sidewalks and roads were also evicted during the drive. A total of Tk 10,300 in fines was collected in five cases during this time.
On Wednesday (July 1), a mobile court and special eviction drive was conducted under the leadership of DSCC Executive Magistrate Mohammad Aminul Islam in Dhanmondi Kakli High School and College and its adjacent areas.
During the drive, miscreants stationed around the school were removed from the area. At the same time, illegal shops and temporary establishments set up by occupying sidewalks and roads, creating obstacles to public movement, were demolished to open space for pedestrians.
During the operation of the mobile court, five cases were filed for illegally occupying sidewalks and roads and a total fine of Tk 10,300 was collected from the concerned parties.
Dhaka South City Corporation has informed that such public interest mobile courts and eviction campaigns will continue regularly to maintain a fair and safe environment for educational institutions, keep sidewalks and roads free from encroachment, and ensure smooth movement of the public.
