Clashes between two parties over dominance in Madaripur, 10 injured including grenade explosion

At least 10 people were injured in clashes between two parties over dominance in Madaripur. More than a hundred grenade explosions and at least 12 homes were vandalized and looted.
The incident took place in Jhikarhati village of Madaripur Sadar Upazila on Monday (June 15) morning.
The injured include Nuruzzaman Molla (35), son of Bande Ali Molla, Masud Fakir (35), son of Motaleb Fakir (35), Hanif Khan (45), son of Abdul Majid Khan, and Kamrul Hawadar (25), son of Siddique Hawadar.
According to police and local sources, there was a long-standing dispute between the Palash Khan faction of Jhikarhati village and the Kabir Molla and Ripon Khan factions of the same area over dominance. As a result, supporters of both sides clashed with local weapons on Monday morning. During the clash, more than a hundred cocktail explosions spread panic throughout the area. At least 10 people from both sides were injured in this. In addition, 12 houses were attacked, vandalized and looted. Upon receiving information, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. However, it is reported that the miscreants attacked and vandalized two police vehicles at that time. No one involved in the incident has been arrested yet.
Madaripur District Additional Superintendent of Police Fariha Rafiq Bhavna said that upon receiving information, the police quickly went to the spot and brought the situation under control. Legal action will be taken in the incident. In addition, additional police have been deployed in the area to avoid any kind of unpleasant situation.
