Newly appointed chairman expresses determination to make RDA corruption-free

The newly appointed chairman of the Rajshahi Development Authority (RDA), Abul Kalam Azad Sweet, has expressed his determination to make Rajshahi a beautiful, modern, livable and corruption-free city.

He expressed this determination while exchanging views with journalists after officially assuming office at 11 am on Monday.

He said that BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has given him this important responsibility with trust and confidence. To repay that trust, he will try to discharge his duties on the basis of honesty, transparency and accountability.

Abul Kalam Azad Sweet said that development is an ongoing process. Rajshahi’s development activities will be taken forward in line with the plans adopted by his predecessors and the master plan prepared by senior leaders. After assuming office, initiatives will be taken to further accelerate the overall development of the city by discussing with all concerned.

Giving utmost importance to improving the quality of life of the city dwellers, he said that Rajshahi will be developed in such a way that people can live comfortably and enjoy the benefits of a clean and environmentally friendly city.

He also said that development activities and services will be delivered to the doorsteps of the common people. Necessary steps will be taken so that citizens can easily get services and enjoy the benefits of development activities.

Mentioning the ‘zero tolerance’ policy against corruption, the newly appointed chairman said that RDA will be developed as a transparent and accountable institution. He called on journalists and conscious citizens to inform him if they have specific information about any irregularities or corruption that has occurred in the past.

Earlier, Abul Kalam Azad Sweet formally signed the document and took charge. He participated in the prayer and supplication program organized on this occasion. Later, he received the greetings of the officials, employees and guests and planted a sapling in the RDA office premises.
