A public awareness meeting was held in Jhalakathi with the aim of preventing misleading information and misinformation on social media, increasing social awareness and developing democratic values.
The meeting was organized by the district administration at the District Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Monday (June 15) at 11 am.
Jhalakathi Deputy Commissioner Md. Momin Uddin was present as the chief guest at the meeting.
Police Superintendent Md. Mizanur Rahman, District Council Administrator Advocate Md. Shahadat Hossain, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Principal of Government Women’s College Md. Ilias Bepari, Deputy Director of Islamic Foundation Md. Moniruzzaman spoke as special guests. Jhalakathi Press Club President Advocate Akkas Sikder presented the main article at the meeting.
The speakers at the meeting said that it is possible to build a healthy and responsible society by increasing awareness about the use of social media, preventing rumors and propaganda, and verifying and disseminating information. They called on students, guardians, and the general public to be more aware of this issue.
Students, teachers, journalists, and representatives of civil society from various educational institutions participated in the program.
