Desk News: The government will soon organize a roadshow to attract domestic and foreign investment in closed and unprofitable government factories. For this purpose, necessary preparations have been ordered to be completed within this month.
This decision was taken at a meeting on ‘Reopening and Management of Closed Factories under the Ministry of Industries’ held at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presided over the meeting.
The Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu made this known.
He said that senior officials of various organizations under the Ministry of Industries presented in detail the current status, problems, prospects and things to be done in the meeting.
The Deputy Press Secretary also said that in the meeting, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman instructed the concerned to find effective ways to quickly reopen the closed factories and make the unprofitable factories profitable. At the same time, he laid special emphasis on attracting domestic and foreign investment in these factories.
The officials concerned at the meeting said that the recommendations of the expert committee are being taken to restart closed factories and make unprofitable factories profitable.
Commerce and Industry Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Prime Minister’s Finance and Planning Advisor Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Ashiq Chowdhury, Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar and senior officials of the Industries Ministry were present at the meeting.
