The Bangladesh Sports Press Association (BSPA) has officially announced the nominations for the highly anticipated “Kool-BSPA Sports Award 2025.” Footballers Hamza Choudhury and Ritu Porna Chakma, alongside record-breaking junior hockey player Amirul Islam, have made the final shortlist for the prestigious Sports Person of the Year category.
​The announcement was made during a press conference held today at the Dutch-Bangla Bank Auditorium of the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA), led by BSPA President Rezwan Uz Zaman Rajib.
​Broad Recognition Across Categories
​This year, the BSPA will honor a total of 14 current and former athletes, organizers, and institutions across 15 distinct categories. The event will also feature financial rewards for the winners.
​The nominees for the Popular Choice Award include:
​Hamza Choudhury (Football)
​Ritu Porna Chakma (Women’s Football)
​Tanzid Hasan Tamim (Cricket)
​Amirul Islam (Hockey)
​The final winners for both the Sports Person of the Year and the Popular Choice Award will be announced live during the main ceremony.

​Event Details and Sponsorship
​The BSPA pioneered sports awards in Bangladesh back in 1964. Continuing this long-standing tradition, the grand ceremony for the 2025 awards is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:30 AM at the Grand Ballroom of the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel.
​The Honorable Adviser/Minister for Youth and Sports, Aminul Huq, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest, alongside Anjan Chowdhury, the Managing Director of Square Toiletries Limited.
​Square Toiletries Limited is sponsoring this prestigious event for the 11th time. Key officials, including Square Toiletries’ GM of Marketing Dr. Jesmin Zaman, BSPA General Secretary Samon Hossain, and Selection Committee Chairman Sudipto Ahmad Ananda, were also present at the press brief.
