Md. Shahriar Ripon : Under the direction of the Police Commissioner of CMP, a smart team of the Metropolitan Detective West Division while on duty in a special operation on 7/04/2026 at approximately 2:55 pm, based on secret information, came to know that,
A passenger bus of Hanif Paribahan was coming from Cox’s Bazar district towards Chittagong carrying drugs, yaba tablets and heroin. In this context, the operational team saw the said bus in front of the petrol pump in the Patiya Crossing area under Karnaphuli Police Station and signaled the bus to stop, but the bus tried to flee towards the city without stopping. Later, the operational team chased the bus and detained the bus along with the driver, supervisor and helper in the bus. When asked the reason for fleeing by disobeying the signal after the arrest, the arrested accused said that they tried to flee without stopping the car because there were illegal drugs in the car. At one point, during the search of the bus in front of the passengers present, the accused 1) Md. Ali Hossain Prakash Ali Hossain (42), 2) Md. Azim (40), 3) Muhammad Rasel (49) showed and took out with their own hands—a) 8 packets wrapped in yellow tape, each containing 1 (one) kg, totaling (8×1)=8 kg of heroin, estimated value 8,00,00,000/- (eighty crores) taka; b) 70 blue zippered packets wrapped in yellow tape, each containing 200 (two hundred) pieces (200×70) totaling 14,000 (fourteen thousand) pieces of Yaba tablets, weighing 1 (one) kg 400 (four hundred) grams, estimated value 35,00,000/- (thirty-five lakhs) taka; and c) 1 HANIF Paribahan bus used for drug transportation was seized. During initial interrogation, it was admitted that the seized heroin and Yaba tablets were collected from 2/3 unidentified persons in Cox’s Bazar and were being taken to Dhaka via Chittagong for sale to 2 unidentified persons.
The arrested accused, along with the unidentified accused, are professional drug dealers. Legal action is underway against the arrested and unidentified accused in this regard. It is to be noted that the arrested accused Md. Ali Hossain Prakash Ali Hossain (42) is facing a case under Section 36(1) Table 10(c) of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018, filed against the arrested accused Md. Ali Hossain Prakash Ali Hossain (42) of DMP’s Hatirjheel Police Station.
