Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan gave this information on the afternoon of Sunday, July 12, 2026.
He said that the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been playing an important role in maintaining law and order in coastal and riverine areas, including the security of the country’s seaports, and preventing smuggling, human and drug trafficking.Â
In continuation of this, today, Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 8 am, a special operation was conducted by the Coast Guard Base Chittagong in the area adjacent to Akmal Ali Ghat under the EPZ Police Station of Chittagong based on secret information. During the operation, a search was conducted in a secret hideout of drug traffickers in the said area and 400 bottles of foreign liquor worth about 1 crore 36 lakh taka, illegally unloaded from a commercial ship, were seized. At this time, it was not possible to arrest anyone as the drug traffickers fled after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard.
Further legal action regarding the seized foreign liquor is under process.
He also said that the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent the spread of dangerous drugs.
