A youth named Md. Saddam Hossain (28) died after being struck by lightning while fishing in the Rangsa River in Tarakanda, Mymensingh. The incident has created a sad situation for the deceased’s family.
The incident took place on Wednesday (April 29) afternoon in the Chaurabari area of Gabargati village in Galagaon union of the upazila.
The deceased Saddam Hossain is the son of Hamed Ali of the same village. He earned his living by fishing along with farming.
According to police and local sources, Saddam Hossain went to fish in the Rangsa River near his house around 1:30 pm. At that time, when it suddenly started raining, he died on the spot due to a sudden lightning strike. Later, his neighbors and relatives recovered his body and brought it home.
In this regard, Tarakanda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Tanbir Ahmed said that police were sent to the scene after receiving the information. A case of accidental death is being processed at the police station in this incident.
