Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen paid a courtesy call on Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan at the Minister’s office at the Secretariat today. During the meeting, they discussed various issues of mutual interest between the two countries and emphasized on increasing media, culture and technology-based cooperation.

During the meeting, the Information Minister recalled his participation in the ‘Strategic Communication Summit’ held last March and said that this event in Turkey was very timely. He thanked the Turkish government for this excellent event.

The Minister also mentioned that it is important to bring the digital platforms of the current world under a specific set of rules and regulations. This is not possible for any single country, rather all countries of the world have to come forward together in this regard.
During the meeting, the Turkish Ambassador handed over a proposal to the Minister to increase cooperation between the state television and radio of that country and the television and radio of Bangladesh. At that time, the Minister of Information emphasized on communication and exchange of experiences between the media outlets of the two countries at the government level.

It is worth noting that during the visit to Turkey, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting held a bilateral meeting with the Director of the Presidential Communications Directorate of Turkey, Professor Fahrettin Altun, in which a principled decision was taken to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bangladesh and Turkey for the purpose of exchanging knowledge and information on modern information management. The progress of that meeting was also discussed in today’s meeting.
