As part of the 250 million tree plantation program announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, a tree plantation program has been inaugurated along the Barisal, Jhalokati, Pirojpur and Khulna regional highways.
On Wednesday (April 1) at 11 am, Jhalokati Deputy Commissioner Md. Momin Uddin inaugurated this program in the Chhatrakanda area of ​​the district at the initiative of the Jhalokati Roads and Highways Department.
Jhalokati Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman and Executive Engineer of the Roads Department Shahriar Sharif Khan were present as special guests at the inauguration ceremony.
The organizers said that this tree plantation program will play an important role in combating the risks of climate change, protecting the balance of the environment and beautifying the road. Therefore, saplings of fruit, forest and medicinal trees are being planted. Various species of trees will be planted along the highways of Barisal, Jhalakathi, Pirojpur and Khulna regions in phases.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Momin Uddin said that there is no alternative to tree plantation to maintain the balance of the environment and combat the adverse effects of climate change. He urged everyone to plant more trees and refrain from cutting trees.
Local journalists and officials and employees of the Roads Department of Jhalakathi were also present at the time.
