Sport Desk : England captain Harry Kane is prioritizing team success over individual achievements. Before the World Cup quarter-final against Norway, he made it clear that his main goal is not to win the Golden Boot, but to bring England the World Cup title.

Kane said at a press conference, ‘My main goal is to win the World Cup. The Golden Boot is a great achievement, but it is never bigger than winning the World Cup. If I have to choose between the two, I will definitely choose the World Cup.’

Kane won the Golden Boot with six goals in the 2018 World Cup. This time too, he is at the top of the goalscoring list. However, he does not want to think about personal statistics.

When asked about comparisons with Norway star striker Erling Haaland, Kane said, ‘We have different styles of play. Haaland is incredibly strong physically and a great goalscorer. I like to be more involved in the game. So it would not be right to make a direct comparison.

He added, “It is not just Haaland that needs to be stopped. There are many other quality players in the Norwegian team, including Odegaard, Sorloth. The whole team needs to be given importance.”

Meanwhile, Kane will reach Wayne Rooney’s record of 120 matches if he plays in this match. He described this milestone as “proud” but said that now all his attention is on the quarter-finals.

England coach Thomas Tuchel also praised the captain and said, “Harry is a fantastic leader. He is selfless, he gives everything for the team. It is truly a privilege to coach such a player.”

Although Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe are ahead in the current Golden Boot race, the World Cup trophy is the biggest dream for Kane rather than personal awards.
