Barura in anti-drug rally held

Mohammad Masud Majumder: An anti-drug rally was held in Barura, Comilla, with the aim of building a beautiful society.

On Saturday, July 11, at 4 pm, in the light of the theme “Say no to drugs, build a beautiful and safe society,” an anti-drug rally was organized at the Sardar Bari adjacent to the Barura Municipality Health Complex by the initiative of Barura Youth Society. The event was presided over by Jhalom High School and College Assistant Professor Mohammad Masud Majumder, and Barura Upazila Executive Officer Asaduzzaman Roni spoke as the chief guest. Barura Upazila Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Ahsan Hafiz, Barura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kazi Nazmul Haque, Barura Haji Noab Ali Pilot High School Ad Hoc Committee President Alhaj Md. Junab Ali, Barura Upazila BNP General Secretary Syed Zahirul Haque Swapan, Vice President Syed Rezaul Haque Reju, Orai Apanjon Social Organization President and Barura Press Club General Secretary Md. Ilias Ahmed, Barura Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee President Md. Farukul Islam were present as special guests. During the event, the office secretary of Barura Press Club, Rota: Omar Faruk, Anti-Corruption Commission officer Md. Zahirul Islam, former guardian member of Barura Sunnia Kamil Madrasa Management Committee Md. Oli Ullah, Barura Purbapara Samaj Sardar Nurul Islam, Monu Mia, Ward 3 Volunteer Party President Md. Abdul Gani, businessman Jasim Uddin,
Housewives Lucky Akhter, Nurchandi Begum, Fatema Begum, were present. The event was moderated by Barura Municipality Ward 3 Youth Party President Masum Sharif Bhuiyan.
At the event, the guests expressed their strong determination to work together from Barura Purbapara (village) regardless of party affiliation to eradicate drugs. They called on everyone to come forward and create awareness about the ill effects of drugs among the youth of every area. The Barura Upazila administration also requested everyone in the area to inform the administration where drug addicts can be found, and called on the administration and civil society to work together to socially rehabilitate drug addicts.
