Md. Milan Raihan, Joypurhat Correspondent : Today’s 17 June 2026 A workshop on the role of teachers and students in building a drug-free educational environment and society and training on mentor creation were held in Joypurhat.
The event was held at the District Commissioner’s conference room Today Wednesday (June 17) at 11 am. The district administration and the District Narcotics Control Department jointly organized this event.
Deputy Commissioner Al Mamun Mia was the chief guest at the event, chaired by Assistant Director of Joypurhat Narcotics Control Department Shakil Ahmed. Additional District Magistrate Mohaimena Sharmin and Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mahbub-un-Nabi were present as special guests.
The workshop discussed in detail the terrible consequences of drug addiction and what can be done to prevent it. Teachers and students from 30 secondary and higher secondary educational institutions in the district participated in it. After the training, the participants were urged to play an active role as ‘mentors’ or awareness workers against drugs in their respective institutions.
