Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said, ‘The movement that took place in Bangladesh in July and August was completely a people’s movement. The July movement was successful because the people wanted change. The movement was successful only when the people were fully involved in this movement.’
He said, ‘We have clearly stated from our position that the credit for the success of this July movement belongs to the people of all walks of life in this country. This is not a credit to any single individual or political party. For the past 17 years, the people of this country, the leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, and many other political parties that believe in democracy have all been on the field in the anti-fascist movement. We have never left the field. We have never left the field and left the field alone.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said these things at a discussion on the theme of 17 years of inevitable struggle for democracy and the bloody July awakening at the Krishibid Institution of Bangladesh (KIB) today, Tuesday afternoon.
Calling on all political parties, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said, “There has been a lot of talk, there has been movement, there has been struggle, there has been debate, now it is time to rebuild the country. Now it is time to take the country forward. Now it is time to patiently keep a watchful eye on the conspiracies of those who want to conspire with a cold head. To warn the people and in the same way, to gradually implement the plan that we have put before the people, what we want to do for the people, what we want to do to rebuild the country. To fulfill the expectations of the people.”
