Mohammad Masud Majumder: The first issue of “Spandex” magazine has been published at International Standard University (ISU) with the aim of developing students’ creativity, innovative thinking and presentation skills. The magazine was unveiled and officially inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr. Abdul Awal Khan, at a function organized by the ISU Textile Club at the university’s Media Lab on Thursday.
The function was presided over by Professor Md. Abul Kashem, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Chairperson of the Textile Engineering Department, ISU, and was attended by Assistant Professor Shamima Siddique, Senior Lecturer Habiba Altaf, Lecturer Md. Hasibul Hasan, along with department heads and students of various departments.
The Vice Chancellor said that the textile sector is one of the driving forces in the economy of Bangladesh. To survive in this sector, new ideas, innovations and problem-based thinking are essential. He further said that “Spandex” magazine is an effective platform for students, through which they can connect themselves with the industry and get help in gaining practical experience in their future careers. At this time, he urged the students to go beyond the boundaries of textbooks and engage in writing, analytical thinking and creative work.
In his speech as the president, Professor Md. Abul Kashem said, “This magazine will play an important role in the intellectual development of students. To be successful in real life, it is essential to develop thinking power, analytical ability and presentation skills. He further said that by writing in this magazine, students will be able to highlight real problems of the industry, new ideas and innovative thinking.”
It is worth noting that ‘Spandex’, the textile-based magazine of ISU’s Textile Engineering Department, has been published by ISU Textile Club.
