Azad Hossain : The official online registration for the second season of ‘Notun Kuri Sports’ is set to commence on July 1, 2026. This initiative aims to scout promising sports talent from the grassroots level and inspire the younger generation to get back to the playground. The announcement was made today by the State Minister for Youth and Sports, Md. Aminul Haque, during a press conference at the Bangladesh Olympic House conference room. The registration window will remain open for two months, concluding on August 31, 2026. Boys and girls aged 12 to 14, born between September 1, 2012, and August 31, 2014, are eligible to participate. Extensive promotional campaigns will be launched across schools, clubs, and district sports offices to ensure talent from remote areas can join.
The scope of this second edition has been significantly expanded to reach deeper into the grassroots. While the inaugural season only allowed upazila teams to compete at the district level, this season will feature teams from every union and city corporation ward competing directly at the upazila level. Furthermore, keeping youth interests in mind, Table Tennis and Volleyball have been added to the existing lineup of Football, Cricket, Kabaddi, Athletics, Swimming, Chess, Badminton, and Martial Arts. This brings the total to 10 sporting events, offering a massive platform for young athletes to showcase their skills.
Meanwhile, the schedule for the national phase of the ongoing first season—’Notun Kuri Sports 2025-2026’—has been finalized. The national-level competition will kick off with a grand opening ceremony on July 18, 2026, at the Mirpur National Stadium in Dhaka. The sports festival will run until July 27, bringing together the top youth athletes selected from 10 zones across the country. The closing and prize distribution ceremony will take place on July 27 at 3:00 PM at the Army Stadium in Dhaka, where the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Tarek Rahman, has consented to attend as the Chief Guest.
