Mohammad Sohel,Senior Reporter, Cox’s Bazar : Currently, the Bangladesh government is giving more importance to social and public welfare programs to improve the quality of life of the people, employment and poverty alleviation instead of mega projects. As part of this, Lutfar Rahman Kajal, the elected member of parliament from Cox’s Bazar 3 Sadar, Ramu, Eidgaon constituencies and BNP’s Central Fisheries Affairs Secretary, has initiated an unprecedented change through road renovation and rural infrastructure development in his constituency. Since taking the oath of office, he has been visiting his constituency on the spot and identifying the existing problems through direct exchange of views with the local people. In continuation of this, he has been working tirelessly for road and infrastructure development, modernization of educational institutions, ensuring grassroots health services, renovation of religious places of worship and above all, for the socio-economic development of the rural population through direct grants.
According to MP Kajal’s official sources, in the last three months, small financial grants worth Tk 28 lakh 83 thousand have been provided to 635 marginalized families in Cox’s Bazar Municipality, Sadar, Ramu, and Eidgaon Upazilas in line with the financial assistance. At the same time, 86 metric tons of rice and 88 metric tons of wheat have been allocated under the Kabikha Food Grains (Rice, Wheat) Program to ensure rural employment and food security.
To accelerate the sustainable development of the grassroots, a huge fund of 6.63 crore taka of the CSIDP project run by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), 1.43 crore taka of the Kabikha project in three installments under the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief and 1.6 crore taka of the BDP project, totaling 11.49 crore taka, has been allocated for specific public welfare projects. Under this special allocation, the work of repairing and rebuilding 123 mosques, 58 cemeteries, 39 temples, 22 Buddhist monasteries, 34 educational institutions, 19 social institutions, and 43 rural roads in our constituency is being implemented with great importance.
