A complaint has been received of the rape of a physically and mentally disabled girl (23) in Kaukhali, Pirojpur. This unfortunate incident took place in Purba Amrajuri village of the upazila on Monday (February 16) afternoon. The police have arrested the accused youth Mithun (32) in this incident.
According to local and family sources, at approximately 5:30 pm on Monday, Khadija Khanam Sumaiya, the physically and mentally disabled daughter of Md. Sohrab Hossain Hawlader of Purba Amrajuri village, was staying at her house. At that time, Mithun, son of Liton Hawlader of the same village, found Sumaiya alone and forcibly raped her. Later, when the matter came to light, there was a huge sensation in the area.
Upon receiving the news, the Kaukhali police station quickly conducted a raid and arrested the accused Ramzan Mithun. Currently, both the victim and the accused are in the custody of the police station. The victim’s mother Halima Begum expressed her anger over the incident and demanded exemplary punishment for the accused.
According to sources from Kaukhali Police Station, the police took action as soon as the information was received. Necessary steps are being taken to record the victim’s statement and conduct a medical examination. Preparations are underway to file a regular case in this incident.
