RAB operation recovers 76 kg 200 grams of marijuana from private car, 2 arrested

Mohammad Sohel, Cox’s Bazar: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-15) recovered 76 kg 200 grams of marijuana from a private car in a special anti-drug operation in Eidgaon, Cox’s Bazar. During this, two alleged drug dealers, including accused in 6 cases of multiple police stations, were arrested.
According to RAB-15 sources, a special check post was conducted in the Meherghona area of ​​Eidgaon upazila on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway on Friday (July 31) at around 1:15 pm. Based on a secret tip-off, a white sedan private car heading from Chittagong to Cox’s Bazar was stopped and searched.
During the search, the driver and passenger of the car gave contradictory information and their movements seemed suspicious. Later, two trolley bags inside the car were searched and 76 kg 200 grams of ganja, which was hidden in a clever way, was recovered. At that time, a private car and two mobile phones used for drug transportation were seized.
The arrested are Nazir Ahmed (44) of Shilbonia Para in Teknaf Sadar Union and Md. Riazul Bakhtiar (48), a resident of Agailjhara Upazila in Barisal, currently living in Khilkhet, Dhaka.
RAB said that the arrested Nazir Ahmed is an identified and habitual drug dealer. There are a total of six cases against him at Bangshal in the capital, Kotwali and Bayezid Bostami in Chittagong, Feni Sadar and Teknaf police stations in Cox’s Bazar, including the Narcotics Control Act and the Foreign Nationals Act.
During initial interrogation, the arrested admitted that they were carrying a consignment of ganja inside a trolley bag disguised as ordinary passengers to evade the eyes of law enforcement.
Assistant Director (Law and Media) of RAB-15, Assistant Superintendent of Police A. M. Faruk said that the recovered marijuana, seized private car and mobile phone along with the arrested persons have been handed over to Eidgaon Police Station for taking necessary legal action against them.
