RAB has arrested two accused who were sentenced to life in the sensational gang rape case in Shariatpur.
The accused were arrested in a joint operation of RAB-8 Madaripur Camp and RAB-7 Chandgao Camp from Tiger Pass area of Khulshi Police Station of Chittagong metropolis on Friday (August 11) midnight.
The arrested accused are Islam Fakir (22) son of deceased Lokman Fakir and Rakib Mandal (22) son of deceased Chamad Mandal of North Madhyapara village of Shariatpur Sadar Upazila (Palang).
According to RAB-8 and the details of the case, on June 30, 2019, a 16-year-old girl was abducted from Shariatpur bus stand. Later the accused gang-raped the abducted girl. When the girl screamed, the local people rescued her in a sick condition and admitted her to the hospital. On sensing the presence of people, the accused fled from the place. Later, they disguised themselves as construction workers and vehicle workers in different parts of the country. When the matter came to the attention of RAB, the accused were arrested in a joint operation of RAB-8 Madaripur camp and RAB-7 Chandgao camp from Tiger Pass area of Khulshi police station of Chittagong city with the help of information technology and social intelligence skills.
Madaripur RAB-8 Company Commander Lt. Commander Md. Muhtasim Rasul said that such activities of RAB-8 will continue in the future. Later, the arrested accused have been handed over to the respective police station for taking legal action.
