The university administration has provided financial assistance to the family of Abu Saeed, a 12th batch student of the English Department of Begum Rokeya University (Berobi), who was killed in the quota movement. On Friday (July 26) around 10:30 am, the university delegation handed over a check of Tk 7.5 lakh to the parents of the deceased Abu Saeed.
Maqbul Hossain, the old father of the deceased Abu Saeed, said that he had come to meet them from the university before. He also talked to the VC on the phone. He told the VC that one of the family should be given a job in the university. He promised to give. The child cannot be recovered. Giving a family member a last-minute job might go a little better. Every day someone from the university is looking. Apart from this, he also said that many acquaintances and strangers are helping.
Proctor of the University Shariful Islam, Head of the Department of Bengal, Prof. Dr. Tuhin Wadud, General Secretary of Teachers Association Asaduzzaman Mandal Asad, President of Officers Association Ferozul Islam were present.
Proctor Shariful Islam said that the university administration is always in touch with Saeed’s parents. As a part of this, Saeed’s family has been given financial assistance of seven and a half lakh rupees. He also said that this cooperation will continue.
Incidentally, Abu Saeed, a 12th batch English student of Begum Rokeya University, was shot dead by the police on July 16. Since then, the quota reform movement has gained a new dimension.
