 Since its inception, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has been playing a leading role in bringing all types of criminals under the law to maintain the overall law and order situation of the country. RAB is regularly carrying out extensive operations against militants, terrorists, organized criminals, armed criminals, narcotics, robbers and robberies. Apart from this, prevention of fraud and fraud is an important and ongoing operation of RAB. This operation of RAB has been appreciated in all quarters of the country. 2. Based on secret information, RAB-10’s Goanda team came to know that a fraudulent gang posing as DB in different areas of the capital has been trapping rich people and extorting huge sums of money from them for quite some time. On receiving the news, RAB-10 increased intelligence surveillance to arrest those involved. 3. Following this, RAB-10 said raiding party came to know on the basis of secret information that some members of the fraudulent gang were staying in Jatrabari area of the capital. On the basis of the said news, on the night of March 27, 2023 AD, the raiding party conducted an operation in Dania area under Jatrabari Thana of the capital Dhaka and arrested 03 fake DB policemen of the cheating gang by providing DB identity. Name of arrested persons 1. Md. Tariqul Islam (48), 2. Md. Motiul Islam (40) and 3. Known as Habibullah (38). 02 toy pistols, 02 fake DB police jackets, 02 walkie talkie sets, 02 pairs of handcaps, 01 stolen motorcycles, 01 cameras, 01 fake police ID cards, 05 fake journalist ID cards, cash and mobile phones were seized from them. During preliminary interrogation, they admitted to be active members of the said fraud circle. 4. The interrogation also revealed that the arrested persons are an organized fraud gang. They first rent a flat house in their convenient area in Dhaka city. Later, the girl members of their group lured various money-rich people in Jatrabari and surrounding areas of the capital to the planned place. After taking the victims there, the girl members of their team tactfully informed their team leader Tariqul Islam. On getting the news, Tariqul Islam and his accomplices wearing DB police jackets went to the place with toy pistol, walkie-talkie set, hand cap and camera and tactfully recorded offensive videos of the victims along with the girl members. It is known that after recording the videos, they showed the recorded videos of the victims and demanded huge sums of money by threatening them with arrests and lawsuits. 5. Arrested accused Md. Tariqul Islam is the leader of the fraudulent gang. According to his plan, it is known that the girls of his group used to lure various money-rich people into immoral activities and take them to the planned places. 6. One of the accomplices of arrested accused Habibullah Tariqul. He used to collect girls from different areas to do these immoral acts. He used to make obscene videos of the victims with the girls using secret cameras of money-rich men brought in by the girl members on the orders of his gang leader. Later, he became Tariqul’s accomplice and extorted huge sums of money by intimidating the victims. Besides, it is known that there are several cases against him in Jatrabari police station. 7. Arrested accused Md Motiul Islam Tariqul’s associate. He used to appear at that place as a journalist. Later, it is said that he used to grab a large amount of money by threatening to publish the said video in various newspapers including social media. 8. Legal action against the arrested persons is under process.
