The Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament has been inaugurated at the upazila level in Joypurhat. The tournament was inaugurated by hoisting the national flag and sports flag at the Circuit House ground on Saturday morning with the national anthem and later by releasing balloons.
Joypurhat Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Ashiq Ur Rahman, Acting Upazila Primary Education Officer Sheikh Shafiuzzaman, Assistant Upazila Primary Education Officer Abdullah Al Mamun, Achintya Kumar Mohanty, Nazimuddin Sohel, Tournament Management Committee President Omar Faruk, members Anwarul Islam Masud, Wahed Gani Masud Jazzaman and others spoke at the inaugural ceremony.
In the opening game of Joypurhat Sadar Upazila, Masterpara Government Primary School defeated Raghabpur Government Primary School by 3-0 goals in the girls’ team match.
Joypurhat Model Government Primary School defeated Pechulialia Azizia Government Primary School by 5-0 goals in the boys’ team match.
Organizers said that 20 teams from Sadar Upazila will participate in the tournament, which starts on Saturday. The final match will be held on April 27.
