As part of identifying the local problems of Moulvibazar city, a press conference was held at Rest Inn Hotel in the city on October 8 at noon to demand waste management and waste removal in open spaces. Former President, Moulvibazar District Chhatra League Mohammad Zakaria, Secretary of Nationalist Lawyers Forum Office Advocate Niamul Haque, Former Women’s Affairs Secretary of Moulvibazar District Secchseb League Umme Salma Haque, Convenor of Jatiyachatra Samaj Waziul Mehdi and 4 fellows held this press conference on one stage. In the press conference, under a project called “Stranding Political Landscape in Bangladesh” by the international organization Democracy International with the financial support of USAID, the participants were informed about the initiatives taken by the fellows in the ongoing multi-party initiative of the DI Fellowship 23rd batch on waste management in the district. Journalists, politicians and members of other professions from different levels of the district were present in the said press conference. Sikandar Ali Road is a residential area and important place in Moulvibazar city. This place is very important as there are many houses and markets around this road. Due to the regular dumping of waste at the site and no permanent solution, there is anger among the local public and the users of this road. Earlier, the young political fellows of the 23rd batch of DIA conducted a public signature gathering in Moulvibazar town to create awareness among the people to implement the planned waste-free modern city management. Along with this, on September 3, 2023, a memorandum was issued to the mayor of Moulvibazar Municipality demanding the removal of waste along Sikandar Ali Road and its permanent solution.
