President Mohammed Shahabuddin will pay homage to Bangabandhu tomorrow on the occasion of the National Mourning Day and 48th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“The Head of the State is scheduled to pay glowing tributes to the Father of the Nation by placing a wreath at his portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32 in the capital at 6.30am,” Presidentā€™s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin told media .

Earlier, the President will be received by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum premises.

Later, both the President and the Prime Minister will place wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu there.

After laying the wreath, they will stand in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, also the great architect of Independent Bangladesh and the greatest Bangalee of all times.

A smartly turned out contingent drawn from Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force will give an honour guard on the occasion.
A munajat will also be offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of the martyrs of the August 15 carnage.

In the afternoon on the day, the President will host a special doa and milad mahfil at Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban after Asr prayers.

A special munajat will also be offered seeking eternal peace of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his deceased family members, who were brutally assassinated on the fateful night of August 15 in 1975.

Doa will also be offered seeking divine blessings for peace and prosperity of the country, welfare of the people and greater unity of the Muslim Ummah across the world.

President’s family members, secretaries’ concerned, civil and military officials and employees of the Bangabhaban are expected to attend the function.
