A preparatory meeting for Bangabandhu’s birth anniversary and the Great Independence Day celebration was held in Barura. On Monday, March 13, at 11 am, the meeting was held in the upazila parishad auditorium under the chairmanship of Md. Mehdi Hasan, the acting upazila executive officer. Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Nazrul Islam, Barura Shaheed Smriti Government College Accounting Department Lecturer Md. Arafat Khan, Upazila Women Vice Chairman Kamrun Nahar Shikha, Upazila Animal Resources Officer Dr. Nasrin Sultana Tanu, Barura Police Station OC Investigation Nahid Ahmed, were present as special guests. Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md Saiful Islam, Upazila Women Affairs Officer Afroza Begum, Upazila Education Officer Tariqul Islam, Upazila Youth Development Officer Md Rashedul Alam. DGM of Barura Palli Vidyut Samiti Md. Jalal Uddin, brave freedom fighter Abdul Mannan, brave freedom fighter Md. Abdus Sattar, President of Barura Upazila Press Club and representative journalist of daily Jayzaydin newspaper Md. Masud Majumdar, General Secretary of Barura Press Club, Barura representative journalist of daily Comilla paper Md. Elias were present. Ahmed, Publicity Secretary of Upazila Press Club and Daily Navchetna Samajkanth correspondent journalist Md Sharif Uddin along with journalists and civil society leaders were present. Meanwhile, on March 17, the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day, wreath laying at the Upazila Bangabandhu Mural, cake cutting discussion meeting and children’s painting competition, along with hoisting of the national flag in public and private institutions were discussed. In addition, issue-wise decisions were taken on March 25 Genocide Day and March 26, including laying of floral wreaths at the central Shaheed Minar at sunrise on 26 March .
