Patuakhali-1 Constituency Member of Parliament and former State Minister for Religion Advocate Shahjahan Mia passed away. He was 83 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by a wife, three sons and a daughter and numerous grandchildren. He died today Saturday (October 21) around 6 am while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital in the capital. This was confirmed by his son-in-law, former Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman and Municipal Awami League General Secretary Advocate Tarikuzzaman Moni. Shah Jahan Mia was born on 17 January 1940. He is a lawyer by profession and an elite politician. He served as the President of Patuakhali District Awami League from 1991 to December 2019. He was elected Member of Parliament from Patuakhali-1 Constituency as a candidate of Awami League in 1996 Seventh, 2008 Ninth and 2018 Eleventh National Parliament Elections on 12 June. He served as the State Minister of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in the Ninth National Parliament of 2008. Patuakhali District Press Club President Syed Enayetur Rahman, Vice President Kazi Mamun, General Secretary SM Nazim Uddin and all executive members have expressed their deep grief and condolences to his family and the bereaved family.
