Hafizur Rahman Habib , Panchagarh Correspondent : The ‘Partner Congress’ was held under the ‘Program on Agricultural and Rural Transformation for Nutrition and Resilience in Bangladesh’ (PARTNERS) project in Tentulia, Panchagarh.
The Tentulia Department of Agricultural Extension organized this seminar on Tuesday (May 19) afternoon at the hall of the Upazila Model Mosque and Cultural Center.
The World Bank, UNDP, and IFAD provided technical and financial support to this event, organized under the Partner Project to ensure nutrition security and climate resilience through agricultural and rural transformation.
Subodh Chandra Roy, Additional Deputy Director (Horticulture) of the District Agricultural Extension Department, was present as the chief guest at the event, chaired by Tentulia Upazila Agriculture Officer Sabrina Afrin.
Senior Monitoring Officer of Partner Project Dinajpur Region Sanjay Debnath, Upazila Cooperative Officer Mamunur Rashid, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Nazmul Haque and Public Health Engineering Department Officer Mithun Kumar Roy spoke as special guests.
At the beginning of the seminar, Upazila Agricultural Extension Officer Jiban Islam delivered a welcoming speech, highlighting various aspects of the project and future goals through a projector.
The program, moderated by Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Manjur Morshed, was also attended by Upazila BNP Organizing Secretary Abu Bakkar Siddique Kabul, Sadar Union MP representative Tajuddin Ahmed, local media workers and several hundred farmers.
The speakers at the seminar said that the main objective of the Partner Project is to modernize agriculture and ensure the supply of safe and nutritious food. Not only to increase yields, but also to address climate change and bring sustainable agricultural technology to the doorsteps of marginal farmers is one of the objectives of this project. The speakers also said that through ‘Krishak School’, farmers are being taught hands-on about the proper use of fertilizers and seeds and modern farming methods at the field level, which will help in building a self-reliant and healthy population.
Earlier, the guests visited various stalls organized on the occasion of the Partner Congress. At the stalls, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officers provided detailed information to the visiting farmers about modern agricultural technologies and exhibitions of various locally produced high-yielding varieties.
Farmers and entrepreneurs present at the seminar expressed satisfaction after hearing the various directions of this project and demanded that this program be further expanded in the future.
