Padma Setu Expressway Accidents Caused by Expired Vehicles: Inquiry Report

The main reason came out in the investigation report of the terrible accident on Padma Setu Expressway at Shivchar in Madaripur. According to the report, Imad Paribahan, despite having an expired, medium driving license of the driver, continued to drive heavy vehicles and at reckless speed on rainy roads.
Pallab Kumar Hazra, head of the investigation committee, presented these facts in the investigation report prepared by the Madaripur district administration on Wednesday (March 22) afternoon.
At this time, 14 recommendations were also highlighted to prevent this expressway accident. However, the demand of the passengers-drivers is to implement the investigation report without leaving it on paper. And the administration is also assuring a strict role in preventing accidents.
Head of the investigation committee and Additional District Magistrate of Madaripur Pallab Kumar Hazra said that the Gopalganj BRTA office suspended the registration of Imad Paribahan on November 17 last year due to reckless speed. Not only that, the transport expired on January 18 this year. Even then Imad Paribahan was running. Due to which a tragic road accident took place on the express at Kutubpur in Madaripur on March 19 at 8 am. Besides, the driver has driven a heavy vehicle even though he has a medium professional license. On the other hand, on the day of the accident, the road was wet due to the driver’s inattention.
An investigation committee of four members of the Deputy Commissioner was formed to find out the real cause of the accident. The convenor of the inquiry committee is Madaripur Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADM) Pallab Kumar Hazra, committee members Madaripur Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Moniruzzaman Fakir, BUET Assistant Professor Shahnewaz Hasanat-e-Rabbi, Madaripur BRTA Assistant Director Mohammad Nurul Hossain.
It is to be noted that a bus of Imad Paribahan left for Dhaka from Phultala in Khulna at around four in the morning last Sunday. The bus lost control at Qutubpur area of the expressway before Padma Setu around 7:30 am. The bus overturned and collided with the underpass wall of the expressway. 17 people died on the spot. Later 2 more people died while undergoing treatment. In this incident, Sergeant Jayant Sarkar of Shibchar Highway Police Station filed a case in the name of the owner of Imad Paribahan Limited Company and all concerned.
