A smart team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime conducted a militant operation in the border area of Kulaura Upazila of Moulvibazar today on August 12. At that time they were accompanied by a raiding team of Swat and District and Thana Police. In the 4 and a half hour operation, 10 militants including men and women were arrested in those two houses and three children who were with them were taken into police custody. 3 kg explosives, high exclusive 50 detonators, Nagar 3 lakh 61 thousand taka and militant training overall and a large amount of Jihadi books were recovered. The homes of the arrested are in various districts including Satkhira Narayanganj. The local law and order forces surrounded two houses in the hilly area of East Tatti Uli village of Karmadha union of the upazila on the basis of the secret information that militants are there from 8 pm on Friday, August 11.
Today, on August 12, Saturday morning, an offensive team of Counter Terrorism and Trans National Crime joined the operation named “Operation Hillside”. They were accompanied by a bomb disposal unit. Additional Commissioner Asaduzzaman, Deputy Commissioner Nazmul Haque, Joint Commissioner Kamruzzaman, SWAT Commander Zahidul Islam were in operation at that time. Besides, District Superintendent of Police Md. Manjur Rahman PPM (Bar), Additional Superintendent of Police DSB Mohsin, Additional Superintendent of Police Kulaura Circle Dipankar Ghosh, Officer-in-charge of Kulaura Police Station Md. Abdus Chalek and other units of police participated in the operation. In the morning a team of 20/22 people from SWAT joined the operation. Local residents said that they bought a house here a month and a half ago. There used to be quite a lot of people. However, the locals could not clearly say what they were doing. It has built a shelter in the eastern Tatti Uli hilly area of Kulaura. On the basis of that news, the operation was conducted here. In this regard, Moulvibazar Police Superintendent Md. Manjur Rahman PPM bar said that the arrested persons were rescued from the shelter and taken to Dhaka as there is a case.
