 The current upazila chairman Md. Kamal Hossain and the recently resigned chairman of No. 11 Mostafapur union Md. Tajul Islam Taj submitted their nominations for the post of chairman in Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila in the 2nd phase of the upcoming upazila council elections today on 21 April. Vice Chairman – Md Sitar Ahmed, Amit Hasan Saju, Abdul Aziz, Amirul Hossain Chowdhury, Md Tushar Ahmed. Deletion of single candidate for the post of female vice-chairman: Shahina Rahman has filed nomination papers.
On the other hand, 13 candidates have submitted nominations for the post of chairman and vice chairman in Rajnagar. Among them, 4 people are in the position of chairman. Vice Chairman (Male) 5, Vice Chairman (Female) 4 nominated. Current Upazila Chairman Md. Shahjahan Khan, upazila chairman candidate Rawanak Ahmed (Apu), former upazila vice chairman Ahmad Belal, former chairman of Kamarchak Union Parishad Md. Nazmul Haque (Salim) as chairman. For the post of Vice Chairman, nomination papers were submitted by Rajnagar Upazila Jubo League General Secretary Abdul Qadir (Fauji), businessman Md Abdul Hakim, Upazila Awami League Information and Research Secretary- Mahim Dey (Madhu), District Volunteer League Information and Technology Secretary Sanjay Debnath, BNP leader Jabalu Talukder.
Women Vice Chairman – Present Women Vice Chairman Mukti Chakraborty, Mosha: Dolly Begum, Lutfun Nahar, Sumaiya Sumi. According to the schedule announced by the Election Commission, the nominations will be scrutinized on April 23 at the Moulvibazar District Commissioner’s office. Appeal against Returning Officer’s decision 24 to 26 April. Appeal disposal from 27 to 29 April. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is 30th April, symbol will be distributed among candidates on 2nd May. Voting will be held in two upazilas on May 21. Today, April 21-Sunday was the last day to submit nominations till 4 pm.
