The Annual General Meeting and Reception of IIUM Alumni Bangladesh Chapter, with Dr. Mohammad Abdul Aziz elected as President and Dr. M. Tuhin Mia as General Secretary, was held on Saturday, May 9, at Rawa Convention Sky Restaurant, Dhaka.
The function was presided over by Professor Dr. Kazi Shahadat Kabir and was graced by the Chief Guest, Minister of Education and Primary and Mass Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Dr. A. N. M. Ehsanul Haque Milon. The Special Guests were the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh, Moha, Shuhada Osman, High Commissioner of Maldives to Bangladesh, Shuunin Rashid, Member of Parliament, Jatiya Sangsad, Shamim Kaiser Lincoln and Dr. Atiqur Rahman Mujahid MP.
Based on the consensus of all those present at the meeting, a new 19-member executive committee has been announced for the term 2026-2028 with Dr. Muhammad Abdul Aziz as the president and Dr. M. Tuhin Mia as the general secretary.
Professor Dr. Selim Ahmed, Dr. Mohammad Tofazzal Hossain and Dr. Afroza Bulbul have been appointed as the vice-presidents of the new committee. Dr. Ekram Uddin and Khalid Helal have been nominated as joint general secretaries. In addition, Golam Mortuza will serve as the treasurer and Khorshed Ali Mandal will serve as the social welfare secretary.
Other editorial positions of the committee include Syedul Haque Sadi (Media and Communication), Abdul Quader Jilani (Academic and Research), Asif Jamil Shahad (Career and Recruitment) and Farhad Ahmed (Office Secretary).
In addition, Professor Dr. Tazin Aziz Chowdhury Dr. Zakir Hossain Selim Dr. Mohibullah, Dr. Ibrahim Khalil Dr. Md. Saiful Islam and Habibullah Habibullah Hadi.
At the same time, a seven-member advisory council including Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milan MP has been formed.
It includes Daily Amar Desh Editor Mahmudur Rahman, Professor Ataul Haque Pramanik, Professor Dr. Abul Hasan Md. Sadek, Professor Dr. Abu Bakr Rafiq, Professor Dr, ABM Mahbubul Islam and Professor Dr, Kazi Shahadat Kabir.
Chief Election Commissioner Mohammad Solaiman Mia and Election Commissioners Professor Dr. Kazi Shahadat Kabir and Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Jalil approved this new committee and wished the organization continued success.
