Nazneen Ahmed’s Inclusion in Board of Directors of National Bank – “New Expectations in New Responsibilities”

With the approval of Bangladesh Bank, prominent businessman Nazneen Ahmed has been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of National Bank PLC. She was appointed as a director on March 31, 2026, under the powers granted under Section 45 and Section 47(3) of the Banking and Companies Act, 1991.

She participated as a director for the first time in the 541st meeting of the Board of Directors of National Bank held on Sunday (April 5). The meeting was presided over by the Chairman of the Bank, Professor Dr. Melita Mehzabin. Present at the event were Vice Chairman and Entrepreneurial Director Moazzem Hossain, Chairman of the Executive Committee and Independent Director Mukhlesur Rahman, Chairman of the Audit Committee Md. Abdus Sattar Sarkar, Independent Director Md. Julkar Nayen, Observer of Bangladesh Bank Munir Ahmed Chowdhury and Managing Director Adil Chowdhury, and other senior officials.

Nazneen Ahmed is a renowned business leader with over two decades of experience in the garment, chemical and packaging sectors of Bangladesh. She is currently the Chairman of Dye Affin Limited and Officina BD Limited. She is also the Managing Director of TS Holdings Limited and Zaita Garments Limited and a Director of several companies including TS Packaging Limited, Denimac Limited and Denimac Washing Limited.

Her long career has played a significant role in improving operational efficiency, expanding international markets and implementing environmentally friendly industrial initiatives. She started her career as a Consular Assistant at the Canadian High Commission in Dhaka. Later, she contributed to women’s empowerment and rural livelihood development programs as a consultant for CARE Canada.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies from McGill University, Canada.

The bank authorities expressed their hope that her experience, leadership qualities and sustainable business vision will add new dimensions to the corporate governance and future progress of National Bank.

After assuming the new responsibility, Nazneen Ahmed said, “It is a great honor for me to be appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of National Bank PLC. I believe that there is no alternative to good governance, transparency and innovative thinking to make the country’s banking sector stronger and more modern. I will make every effort to bring positive changes in the bank’s operations and improve the quality of customer service by utilizing my previous experience. It is worth noting that Nazneen Ahmed is the wife of Housing and Public Works Minister and Member of Parliament for Comilla-8 (Barura) constituency Zakaria Taher Suman. The news of her appointment has created an atmosphere of joy in the Barura Upazila and related areas. Local leaders and the general public have congratulated her.
