Moulvibazar District Council inaugurates tree plantation program under 250 million tree plantation program

Mosahid Ahmed, Moulvibazar: The tree plantation program organized by Moulvibazar District Council has been inaugurated as part of the government’s 250 million tree plantation program in 5 years. Today, June 13, at noon, the program was inaugurated by Moulvibazar District Council Administrator Mizanur Rahman at the Moulvibazar District Council premises. Present at the time were Moulvibazar District Council Chief Executive Officer Begum Shamima Khandaker, District Council Assistant Engineer (Civil), Local Government Division, Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives – Eng. Md. Masum Hossain, Stenographer Malay Kant Debnath. It is learned that one of the election promises of BNP was that 250 million trees will be planted across the country in 5 years if it comes to power. The Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change will implement this large tree plantation program in the next 5 years with the aim of protecting the environment and combating the adverse effects of climate change. In the first phase, 15 million saplings will be planted in 149 upazilas of the country.
