Mohiuddin Ahmed elected mayor for second time in Patuakhali municipal elections

The Patuakhali Municipal Elections were completed by EVM system in a peaceful atmosphere amid tight security. In this election, the current mayor Mohiuddin Ahmed (Jag Marka) was elected mayor for the second time by getting 20,718 votes. His closest rival mayoral candidate district Awami League organizing secretary former mayor Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam (mobile phone) got 9,676 votes.

Besides, Laili Begum Kala (Autorickshaw) was elected as a female councilor in reserved wards No. 1, 2 and 3, Jahanara Binte Sikandar (Pineapple) was elected in reserved wards No. 4, 5 and 6 and Syeda Aklimunnessa Ruby (Autorickshaw) was elected in reserved wards No. 7, 8 and 9. ). Councilor was elected in the 1st general ward. Lokman Hossain (Ostrich), Moin Khan Chanu (water bottle) became Ward No. 2, Md. became Ward No. 3. Zahid Hossain (table lamp), 4th ward has become Md. Saidur Rahman Lelin (Punjabi), has been appointed in Ward No. 5. Alauddin Alal (Bridge), 6th Ward became Md. Rezaul Hasan Labu (Bridge), has become a councilor in Ward No. 7. Touhidul Islam (Bridge), was elected in Ward No. 8. Rakib Akon (Punjabi) was elected councilor in Ward No. 9. Bellal Hossain (ostrich).

Out of 50,699 voters, 31,468 voters cast their votes in the said election. Returning Officer and Senior District Election Officer Khan Abi Shahanur Khan said that 73 votes of these voters have been invalidated.

As soon as the results of this election were announced, thousands of supporters of Mayor Mohiuddin Ahmed took out a joyous procession throughout the city. Police patrols are there to maintain peace and order
