They keep planning throughout the year to spend this time in a different way.
Gunaraj Gaurang Pal and Ravi Pal said that the work of making the idol is almost complete. Now I am working on painting.
Sri Kanjan Kanti Chakraborty, priest of Rajapur Bandar Sarvajan Sri Sri Durga Mandir, said, according to Shastra, if Durga comes riding on the ghot and departs the ghot, it results in ‘chhatra bhang sturangam’ social, political and war-related unrest. In words it is called ‘Chhatrabhangam’.
Rajapur Puja Celebration Parishad Rajapur Upazila Branch President Ad Sanjib Kumar Biswas said, “We are keeping track of all the Puja Mandap in the Upazila, we are working accordingly after hearing the advantages and disadvantages. Now our Goddess Durga will come “Ghotak” or riding a horse.
Gopal Karmakar, General Secretary of Rajapur Puja Celebration Parishad, said that our preparations are nearing completion. The artists are busy from morning till night to give the idol its shape with all their resources. This year 22 puja mandaps in Rajapur are located 6 in Saturia, 7 in Shuktaghar, 4 in Rajapur, 2 in Galua, 3 in Mathbari. Out of these 8 have been made temporarily to celebrate pujas. Already in many they have been able to develop the form of the goddess. To deal with all kinds of unpleasant incidents, the upazila administration and law enforcement forces have completed a preparatory meeting in the presence of all concerned. Their activity has also been increased in the areas of Puja Mandap.
Upazila Executive Officer Farhana Yasmin said that Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of Sanatan religions, is a few days away. The instructions given by the Bangladesh government have already been officially communicated to them. Of the 22 mandaps in Rajapur, 4 are more important, 5 are important and the rest are in the general list and security arrangements have been made accordingly.
