Member of Parliament of Dhaka 20 Constituency and Dhaka District Awami League President Benazir Ahmed said that journalists should be more diligent in establishing people’s rights. Journalist society is our fourth pillar. Each of them has considerable importance and dignity. I am personally delighted to invite me to the introductory meeting of the Rural Journalists Foundation Dhaka District Committee. In my personal life, I also once did journalism. Bangabandhu also loved journalists. The current Prime Minister is playing a major role in the welfare of journalists.

He said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the Great Independence Day discussion meeting and inauguration of the newly elected committee organized by the Dhaka District Branch of the Rural Journalist Foundation (RJF) at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka on 21 March 2023. RJF Chairman SM Zahirul Islam spoke as the main speaker under the chairmanship of Dhaka District RJF president Siddiqur Rahman Azadi and newly elected general secretary Md Imam Hossain. Acting Secretary General of RJF, Md. Al-Amin Shawon gave a welcome speech.

National Human Rights Association Chairman Md. Manjur Hossain Isa, Permanent Council Member Md. Chanaullah, Md. Farooq Ahmed, RJF Organizational Coordinator Abdullah Al Maruf, Lutfun Nahar Rikta, Senior Vice President of Dhaka District Ahmed Jiban, M. Shajahan and others spoke among others. the leaders Shafiur Rahman Kazi recited from the Holy Quran. In his welcome speech, SM Zahirul Islam said that the Dhaka District Committee will always move forward with the vow of journalism and the conviction to work for the welfare of the people. In continuation of that, I inaugurated the new committee. He also said that you should always remember that journalism is a great profession. You will not engage in any unethical activities outside of this profession. He warmly congratulated all the leaders of the newly elected Dhaka district on behalf of the Central Committee.
