A meeting of local journalists was held with the newly-joined Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Farzana Akhter in Kalihati Upazila of Tangail.
The meeting was held at 3 pm on Monday (July 20) in the conference room of the Upazila Parishad.
​Presided over by new UNO Farzana Akhter, the meeting was attended by former presidents of Kalihati Press Club Rashid Ahmed Abbasi, Shah Alam, Mir Anwar Hossain, president of Kalihati Reporters Unity Anisur Rahman Shelly, general secretary Monir Hossain, vice-president Shariful Islam Mahfuz,
journalists from local print, electronic and online media were present.
At the meeting, the newly appointed Upazila Executive Officer sought the cooperation of journalists in maintaining the overall law and order situation, developmental activities and administrative transparency of Kalihati Upazila. He said, journalists are the mirror of society. When the correct picture of the area and the suffering of the people come to the administration with the help of the media, it becomes easier to work. The combined role of the administration and journalists is very important to make Kalihati Upazila an ideal and developed Upazila.
The journalists present at the meeting presented various problems, possibilities and issues of public importance of the Upazila before him. The journalists expressed their hope to be by the side of the administration in all positive and public welfare-oriented works by publishing objective news.
