Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC organized Agent Banking Business Conference-2024 and workshop on prevention of money laundering & terrorist financing on Saturday, 10 February 2024, at Hotel Shaikat, Chattogram. Mohammed Monirul Moula, Managing Director and CEO of the bank, addressed the conference as the chief guest. J Q M Habibullah,FCS, Additional Managing Director and Miftah Uddin, Deputy Managing Director were present as the special guests. Md. Maksudur Rahman, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Development Wing, presided over the conference. A.K.M Mahbub Morshed, Executive Vice President and Head of Agent Banking Division, addressed the welcome speech. Meah Md. Barkat Ullah and Mohammad NurulHossain, Executive Vice Presidents also delivered speech. Executives and officers from the Head Office, Head of Branches under the zones and proprietors of the agent outlets were present at the conference.

Mohammed Monirul Moula, the Managing Director and CEO of the bank, stated during his speech as the chief guest that Islami Bank currently operates 2,771 agent outlets nationwide having deposited amount Tk 14,305 crore. In 2023, Agent Outlets earned new deposited amount Tk 3,255 crore. Agent Banking extends to fostering economic development, generating
employment, alleviating poverty, and promoting overall economic growth by ensuring financial inclusion in remote areas. He further said these Agent Outlets play a vital role in enhancing services for expatriates, particularly in channeling foreign remittances to the banking system. As a testament to their impact, Islami Bank's Agent Outlets have significantly contributed, boosting of 52% of all agents in the country involved in remittance collection last year.
