A meeting was held to introduce the newly formed convening committee of the Muktijoddha Sangsad District Unit Command and exchange views with journalists in Lalmonirhat. The meeting was held on Saturday (September 13) morning in the meeting room of the general library under the chairmanship of the district convener, veteran freedom fighter SM Shafiqul Islam Kanu (guerrilla leader ’71).
The meeting was addressed by Joint Convener Bir Muktijoddha Sirajul Haque, Member Secretary Bir Muktijoddha MA Kashem and Members Bir Muktijoddha Abdul Quddus, Bir Muktijoddha Meheruzzaman, Bir Muktijoddha Rashidul Haque (Hatibandha), Bir Muktijoddha Abu Bakar Siddique (Bir Muktijoddha Abdul Quddus) and Bir Muktijoddha Abdul Quddus (Kaliganj).
Among others, Acting Editor-in-Chief of Lalmonirhat Barta Newspaper Dr. ASM Manwarul Islam, Journalists Abdur Rob Sujan, Jahangir Alam Shahin, Milan Patwari, Hasanul Aziz, Tahidul Islam Liton, GS Babu and others.
Convener, veteran freedom fighter SM Shafiqul Islam Kanu said that in the last 54 years, lakhs of fake freedom fighters have been created under state patronage through party affiliation, nepotism and illegal transactions. It is the responsibility of the state to remove these fake freedom fighters from the list. The current convening committee will cooperate with the National Freedom Fighters Council (JAMUKA) so that fake freedom fighters can be removed from the list.
He also said that upazila and union convening committees will be formed during the tenure of the current committee. Only real armed freedom fighters from the battlefield will be included in this convening committee. All freedom fighters who did not create or cooperate in creating freedom fighters through party affiliation during the tenure of previous governments, especially those who are office bearers of any political party, cannot be included in any committee. Because the Muktijoddha Parishad is a non-partisan and neutral organization.
It is worth noting that the 11-member Lalmonirhat District Unit Command was approved on September 1 by the joint signatures of Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command Council Convener Naeem Jahangir and Member Secretary Sadeq Ahmed Khan, whose convener was Muktijoddha SM Shafiqul Islam Kanu.

(Kaliganj), Muktijoddha Abdul Kader (Aditmari) and Muktijoddha Syed Bazlur Rashid (Lalmonirhat Sadar).
