Sohel Ahad : Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized Indian cumin (spice) worth about 13 million taka and a covered van in a raid conducted by the BGB in Bijoynagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria.
Sarail Battalion (25 BGB) announced this information in a press release on Tuesday (June 9). BGB said that as per the instructions of the Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh, Sarail Battalion (25 BGB) has increased intelligence surveillance to prevent narcotics and other smuggled goods from entering the country through the border.
In continuation of this, on June 8 at around 5 am, a special patrol team of Brahmanbaria Transit Camp under Sarail Battalion conducted an operation based on secret information. The operation was conducted in the Amtoli Bazar area of ​​Chandura Union of Bijoynagar Upazila, about 5 kilometers inside Bangladesh from Border Pillar 2001/MP.
During the operation, 6,000 kg of Indian cumin seeds were seized in a covered van. The covered van used for smuggling was also seized. According to BGB information, the total value of the seized Indian cumin seeds and covered van is around Tk 13 million.
The seized goods and the covered van have been submitted to the Akhaura Customs Office for further legal action. Sarail Battalion (25 BGB) said that BGB operations and intelligence activities will continue to ensure security and prevent smuggling in the border areas of Bijoynagar, Akhaura in Brahmanbaria and Madhabpur in Habiganj.
