District police have arrested 5 persons involved in various crimes including a human and currency smuggler in Comilla.
Superintendent of Police Abdul Mannan gave this information in a press conference at Comilla Superintendent of Police office on Thursday afternoon.
He said that on the basis of secret information, the Kotyali Model Police Station conducted an operation on Wednesday and arrested a human and currency smuggler named Md. Jahangir Hossain from Habib Motors in Durgapur Ghoramara area under Kotyali Model Police Station.
While searching his body, the police recovered seven Bangladeshi passports and 20,000 rupees fake notes from his pocket. During the interrogation, he admitted the truth of the incident. According to his information, one crore thirteen hundred twenty six thousand one hundred taka and five thousand one hundred US dollars were recovered by conducting a raid at the house of the accused in Joynagar area under Lalmai police station.
On the other hand, in a special operation of the District Intelligence Police, 5 robbers with weapons were arrested from Dakshinchartha Thirapukur Par Road under Kotyali Model Police Station. The arrested are Md. Sohail Prakash Campbell, Md. Rubel, Md. Imran Hossain, Tariqul Islam Bhuiyan, Kauchar.
A country-made pipe gun, 3 fresh cartridges, a steel chapati, a 1 foot long Chinese axe, two steel switch gear knives.
The arrested are active members of the gang. There are multiple cases against them including murder, bank robbery, robbery, arms case. In this regard, two separate cases have been filed at Comilla Kotyali Model Police Station.
